The events of the past nearly two years have presented many moments and reasons for negativity and it’s been a challenge to stay positive. But amidst the current COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria, the BIA Victoria is staying positive about hosting its upcoming boat show event. Against the backdrop of multiple boat shows having to be cancelled in 2021 and 2022, the BIA Victoria reimagined its cancelled major show with a Discover Boating Showcase. A scaled-down and different style of event but still a great opportunity to showcase the joys of boating and give buyers a chance to view offerings from manufacturers.
The showcase event was scheduled for early October, but with another COVID outbreak in Victoria, the organisers have made the decision to push that date out until November. Reportedly saying the change was ‘in the spirit of staying positive’.
The showcase is now scheduled for the weekend of 6-7 November which will end-tail a great week in Melbourne with the Melbourne cup on the Tuesday prior. The event will be held at Bangholme, at the National Water Sports Centre and will showcase a wide range of activities associated with the boating lifestyle.
The schedule includes on-water displays, a market place, educational sessions on boating safety, entertainment, boat test drives and of course refreshments. Event sponsors include the Victorian Fisheries Authority so fishers should be well catered for with attractions and fishing focused activities.
The full details on activities and exhibitors is yet to be released but those interested can stay updated at Boating Showcase and all will be fingers-crossed that the event can proceed. The big annual Melbourne Boat Show is scheduled to resume in June 2022.
For Victorians who are unsure as to how the current COVID restrictions impact boating activities, BIA VIC have provided information at COVID Update Interstate boating enthusiasts keen to get to any boat show this year, will need to stay across the rulings in regard to border closures and travel to/from Victoria closer to the date.
Pre-Show Buying Plan
Let’s all embrace the BIA VIC spirit and stay positive that the show will go on and potential attendees can start making their plans. Visiting a boat show can present the ideal opportunity for potential buyers to see a number of makes and models of the vessels in their categories of interest up close for easy comparison. These events allow for discussions with the boat dealers and in many cases test drives as are indicated at the November Victorian event.
They also typically offer show special deals and offers which can represent great savings for those in a position to buy or order on the day. And that is where preparing for the show is key. If you are a genuine buyer and attending a show with the intention of a purchase, having your finance sorted beforehand is a no-brainer.
We offer assistance for show visitors in a number of ways:-
- Pre-approved boat loans: we can have your boat loan sourced, quoted, negotiated and approved before you make that final purchase decisions. This can provide increased confidence when negotiating on price plus provide certainty that you are approved for a certain loan amount.
- The boat loan percentage rates on pre-approved boat loans are the same as for post-purchase loans and there is no obligation if you change your mind.
- Boat loan calculators that you can use from your mobile device while at the show or showroom. These resources allow you to calculate estimated repayments at our current interest rates on any number of boats you inspect on the day. Once you’re given a price, simply enter that as the loan amount and see the repayment estimate calculated. You can even contact us via phone or email at that moment to request a quote. Our calculators also provide a quick and easy way to compare what we may be able to offer on a boat loan to any other finance offer you may be presented with.
If you are a genuine buyer then do your prep so you are in a strong position to place your order at the show. Being prepared for a quick purchase at a show or other event or even when visiting a dealership has reached new levels of importance with the recent stock shortages in the some areas of the boating industry.
Boating in general experienced a massive uptick due to COVID in 2021 with the increased sales resulting in low availability for some makes and models. Manufacturers are doing their best to stay on top of demand but with the global computer chip shortage and other supply chain issues persisting, stocks for some may still be in short supply. The better prepared buyers are with their finance confirmed, the better their chances of securing the boat of their choice.
