Since 1968, the Sydney Boat Show has been an institution on the Sydney boating scene and its popularity has seen it to grow to become the largest and most prestigious recreational marine event in the southern hemisphere and a major event for Sydney.
The show attracts visitors from interstate and overseas, generating significant income for the local tourism and boating industries.
The Sydney Boat Show has called Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay home for many years, but with the re-development of the Sydney Exhibition Centre, 2015 and 2016 see the shows spread across two locations – Cockle Bay for the on-water displays and demos and the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island for the land-based displays, seminars and major exhibits.
Plenty to See and Do
The Sydney Boat Show presents a comprehensive coverage of all aspects of boating including education, safety, information and knowledge as well as showing latest models, equipment and gear on the market and balancing that with a program of entertainment to suit everyone.
The Show partners with the NSW Government Transport for NSW which focuses on safe boating, education, regulation and careers in the marine industry. All major industry organisations are on hand to provide information and assistance and answer questions.
The show offers information exchange with discussions with experts and seminars on key topics.
The entertainment includes live cooking demos with recipes to inspire, fishing classes, seminars eg on how to use your fishfinder, fashion parades with current and historic boating wear, celebrity appearances and plenty more.
And then there are the stars of the show – the exhibitors! And what a list – hundreds of brands represented by the who’s who in boating and many exciting new businesses as well.
On the marina, it is your chance to inspect a mind-boggling selection of craft including catamarans, sailboats of all sizes and luxury including Bavaria, Beneteau and Jeanneau and power boats of all sizes from Riviera, Chris Craft, Hatteras, Searay, Manhattan, Caribbean and Whitehaven, to name just a few.
