October is a big month for boating enthusiasts with the official start of the boating season and two big shows on the schedule – the SA Boat and Fishing Show in Adelaide and the Melbourne Boat Show. Both shows offer enthusiasts great opportunities to see the latest that many leading brands in the marine industry have to offer. For prospective buyers, these events can present ideal opportunities to buy new watercraft. If a new vessel is on your ‘must-have’ list for this summer, then now is the time to plan to visit these shows and make buying preparations including arranging finance,
While all show details are not available at time of preparing this article, we’re updating on what information is available so show visitors and especially buyers, are well-prepared and don’t miss out. For those travelling to Melbourne for that show, please note it will be a busy time in the region with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island that same weekend.
Melbourne Boat Show Event Details
The Melbourne International Boat Show is an event of the Boating Industry Association of Victoria and the 2024 show is shaping up as another blockbuster. It will be held from Thursday 17 through Sunday 20 October at Docklands. This year the organisers say the exhibitor space is packed out and an extra marina has been added on the waterfront – more boats to see!
Docklands is conveniently located for the CBD with plenty of accommodation options for those travelling from interstate and other areas of Victoria. At time of writing, details of tickets were not available on the event website. But those interested can sign up at the Facebook page for alerts for when tickets do go on sale.
SA Boat and Fishing Show Event Details
Just a week later the attention turns to Adelaide for the annual Club Marine SA Boat and Fishing Show. This event is held in conjunction with the Adelaide 4WD and Adventure Show to increase the interest and expand the products to see.
Gates open 9am to 5pm, Friday 25 through to Sunday 27 October and tickets can be purchased online. This year’s line-up of entertainment and points of interest include a Fishing Stage, Boat License Testing, an Adventure Hub, a Bush Camp Stage and Jayco Information Session.
Exhibitors will be showing a range of watercraft including wake boats, inflatable, pontoon boats, and many more along with marine accessories and equipment. Check out the Exhibitor Listing to prepare a list of must-see boats with an eye to placing an order at the event.
Pre-arranging Finance to Order at a Boat Show
A major advantage of attending boat shows is being able to see a wide selection of makes and models in the one location. For buyers, this can mean saving a lot of time having to visit several dealerships to inspect and compare options. Some manufacturers also typically offer ‘show specials’ at these events, which are only for purchases and/or orders placed on the day. So buyers need to be ready and for many, that means having their marine finance confirmed.
The idea of arranging finance before even selecting a vessel may seem strange to some buyers. But it is widely used across many sectors and can present many benefits. A major benefit is that buyers know the amount they have been approved to borrow and can confidently proceed with their order. A big plus when at a very busy boat show where making serious decisions can be a challenge and when presented with so many magnificent vessels.
To be ready to place orders for new boats at the Melbourne Boat Show, buyers can pre-arrange finance at highly competitive rates through Jade Boat Loans.
How Pre-Approved Boat Loans Work
Pre-arranging marine finance is a simple process and follows essentially the same steps and streamlined procedures as we offer with loans arranged after purchase. The same credit products apply regardless of when the loan application is made – before or after vessel selection and purchase. For boat show buyers we are looking at new boats, with our Secured Boat Loan the most popular form of finance.
Buyers simply speak with one of our experts and we will advise the documents and details required for the application. We will need an indication of the boat that is being considered, especially the price range. As exact pricing is not usually known before a deal is struck with the marine dealer, applicants will need to provide us with an estimate of the finance required for the loan.
With that information, we source the best offer and arrange conditional approval. The best offer will be at the best available interest rates with the same rates applicable to both pre and post purchase loan applications. The buyer now has their approval confirmed for a certain loan amount and knows the repayments for that amount.
Pre-approved loans carry no obligation to proceed if a purchase is not made. They do come with time limits which we will advise at the time of application. If that dream boat is not ordered at the SA or Melbourne Boat Show, the offer simply expires. If you decide to purchase later, we can easily source you a new quote.
The summer boating season is calling so start planning your boat show visit and that purchase of a new boat to enjoy your favourite water recreational activities. Use our calculator while browsing exhibitors to compare estimated loan repayments on different models.
